SyncBackPro/SE: The minimum requirement for operating system is Windows Vista or later. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows are supported. 64-bit versions of SyncBackPro/SE are also available. All versions of Windows Server from 2008 and newer are supported (except for Server Core installations of Windows Server as they have no GUI). Windows XP and earlier are not supported.

SyncBackFree: The minimum requirement for operating system is Windows Vista or later. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows are supported. Server versions of Windows (e.g. Windows 2008, Windows 2012 etc.) are not supported. Windows XP and earlier are not supported.

SyncBack Touch: SyncBack Touch is a cross-platform file server that SyncBackPro/SE can use to transfer files to and from a device. It supports Windows (including Server Core installations), macOS (10.15 Catalina or newer), Linux (64-bit Intel Linux – Ubuntu LTS 16.04 and RedHat Enterprise V7) and Android. See the download page for details. Note that the Android version has hardware and software requirements. SyncBack Management Service (SBMS): SBMS is a service used to manage multiple remote SyncBackPro installations. It supports Windows (including Server Core installations).

No software by 2BrightSparks is supported on non-genuine installations of Windows, e.g. emulators. For example, Wine is not supported. Using SyncBack on ARM processors is not supported.

Hardware Requirements

The following are the minimum hardware requirements for all Windows software produced by 2BrightSparks:

• A dual-core or better x86 CPU (32-bit or 64-bit)
• 1GB RAM (32-bit) or 2GB RAM (64-bit)
• Minimum screen resolution of 1024×768 (not relevant to SyncBack Touch and SBMS)
• Minimum free disk space of 500MB (on the drive where the software will be installed)

The following are the recommended hardware requirements:

• A quad-core or better 64-bit x86 CPU
• 8GB RAM
• Screen resolution of 1280×1024 or better (not relevant to SyncBack Touch and SBMS) 
• Free disk space of 1GB (on the drive where the software will be installed)

Misconceptions

We are occasionally contacted by people who believe SyncBack is too large to be used on lower-end hardware. This is completely untrue and baseless.

SyncBackPro and SyncBackSE V11 (32-bit) can easily run on Windows 10 Home (32-bit) with just 1GB of RAM and a dual-core processor (which are the minimum requirements for Windows 10 32-bit). They have been tested copying 390,600 files (from one drive to another) without any issue or excessive resource usage.

You can optionally configure profiles to run at a lower priority to reduce the impact on other processes. With SyncBackPro you can also configure it to use even less memory (see Global Settings).
